Security show attracts 30,000 professionals
I’m flying through a snow flurry outside of Chicago to catch a connecting flight back to Florida. I spent a few days in Las Vegas where I attended the largest security show ever – the 2016 International Security Conference. Also known as ISC West 2016, the show drew 30,000 security professionals from around the world. They clamored to see new technology on display by over 1,000 exhibitors. I knew this was a big show when I joined the end of the badging line. The line of many hundreds of attendees crossed the entirety of the Sand’s Expo Center.
2GIG shows new security systems
I visited the Nortek booth where representatives demonstrated the very newest 2GIG security systems. The 2GIG GC3 is designed to serve the higher-end market with sophisticated automation features and expanded capabilities. An compact, simple entry-level system was introduced that won’t be available until later this year.
Alarm.com app updated
Alarm.com talked about their latest app update which adds a number of exciting and useful features. This update is currently being pushed to mobile devices.
Video was a major focus
Video security was the most predominate theme of ISC West. Hundreds of companies demonstrated products ranging from tiny, covert personal camera/recorders to sophisticated, multi-camera systems for industry and government.
Mobile is on the move
A second over-arching theme was mobile. Most new products had some kind of mobile connection. Locks could be unlocked from an app. Security could be remotely monitored and controlled from your phone. Video cameras transmit images and video to mobile devices.
An exciting show
The enthusiasm and excitement at ISC West 2016 was palpable. Technology is bringing great new products and services to the security industry. The application of most of these new products requires knowledge and experience. To get guidance for your specific need, call Metro Alarm & Technologies at (844) 462-6387 or fill out our handy form.
